What is AnyRemote

AnyRemote is an app for remote access to a computer. With it you can see another computer's screen and control it with your mouse and keyboard over the internet — to help family, work with your home PC from anywhere, or transfer files.

Step 1. Download and install

Open the “Download” section and pick the Windows version:

• Installer (recommended) — a regular setup in a couple of clicks.
• Portable version (ZIP) — nothing to install: unpack the folder and run the app.

You need the app on both computers: the one you connect to and the one you control from.

Step 2. First launch

On startup the app shows your personal ID (the computer's number) and a password. These are needed so others can connect to the computer. The ID is permanent; the password can be changed.

Do I need to register?

Registration is optional — you can connect without an account by simply entering the target computer's ID.

But a free account is more convenient:

• Address book — save computers so you don't enter the ID every time.
• Favorites — the computers you need most, always at hand.
• Connect from the browser — control a remote PC right from the website, without installing the app.
• A green indicator shows which computers are currently online.

How to connect to another computer

1. Find out the ID of the computer you want to connect to (it's shown in the app on that computer).
2. Enter that ID in your app and click “Connect”.
3. A request appears on that computer — it must be allowed (or the password entered).
4. Done: you see the remote screen and control it.

How to give access to your computer

Give the person connecting your ID and, if needed, the password. When they start connecting, a request window appears on your side — confirm it. In settings you can enable “Don't ask when connecting” if you trust them and want to connect without confirmation.

Controls during a session

• Move the mouse and type — everything is sent to the remote computer.
• The Ctrl+Alt+Del button sends that combination to the remote PC.
• Fullscreen mode for comfortable work.
• File transfer and a shared clipboard are available (copy on one, paste on the other).

Connecting via the browser

If you have an account, you don't need to install the app on the controlling computer. Sign in to the website, open the “Address book” and click “Connect” next to the computer you need — the remote screen opens right in the browser.

Program settings

Open the settings with the “Settings” button in the app. Available options:

Session

• Clipboard sync — text copied on one computer can be pasted on the other during a session.
• Don't ask when connecting — incoming connections are accepted immediately, without a confirmation prompt. Turn this on only if you trust those who connect.
• Connection animation (“matrix”) — a nice digit splash when entering the remote screen. If turned off, the screen opens right away.

Window closing

• Ask on close — when you click the “X”, the app asks whether to close completely or minimize to the system tray (the icon near the clock).
• Minimize to tray — what to do on close when the question is off: minimize to tray (the app keeps running in the background and can accept connections) or exit completely.

Security and FAQ

• Share your ID and password only with people you trust.
• A connection to your computer is possible only after your confirmation (unless auto-accept is enabled).
• If something goes wrong, end the session with “Disconnect” — access stops immediately.
• Make sure both computers have internet and the latest version of the app.
